Breaking news:Lampard signs 5 year deal at Chelsea

Welcome back! Check out our new videos and news updates!

Frank Lampard signed a 5 year deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge for rest of his career. Much was spoken about his potential move to Inter Milan linking with former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho. Lampard seemed to make the move this year or the next, but has signed a new deal under boss Scolari. Scolari had maintained that Drogba and Lampard were very much in his plans for rest of their career. A good start for Scolari!!!

Countdown to Kick off

With the premier league kick-off less than a month away, club managers are busy working ways to lure some top signings. Compared to last few years, this year’s transfer activity has been very dull (thanks to Roman Abrahamovic for busy activities in the past few years). Top clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool are yet to make any big signing for this season. Though there have been few signings in the past few weeks, the signing of big names like Eto, Kaka, Robinho, Arshavin, Berbatov are still awaited.
Chelsea have already started their pre-season in China with a 4-0 win over Guangzhou Pharmaceutical. Lampard, Wright-Phillips, Kalou and Argentine di Santo scored for Chelsea. Lampard’s stay at Stamford Bridge is not final yet as Jose Mourinho is preparing to sign him for Inter Milan. Manchester United will be as strong as they were during last season if they manage to hold Ronaldo. Arsenal will take new shape with Arsene Wenger still pondering over the transfer market.
In the bottom, Sunderland will have some encouraging news in the next week or so with manager Roy Keane prepared to sign a bunch of players from Tottenham which includes Chimponda and Darrent Bent. Roy is also preparing to sign Darren Fletcher from his old club Manchester United. The new boys Hull are also busy in transfer market as they are on the verge of signing few star players. No activities in Newcastle camp after their disappointing performance in last season. They would have to rely on Michael Owen to score as Viduka and Martins were ineffective during latter half of the 08 season.
Every game will be important - well, I have to say that after the close finish last season. I would expect Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea to fight it out for the top spot as I think Liverpool are yet to learn to be consistent. So..who is it going to be… Scolari or Ferguson or Arsene Wenger?

Chelsea on the verge of signing Robinho

Chelsea are close to signing Brazilian forward Robinho from Real Madrid. The transfer fee is supposed to be in the range of £48m. Robinho has already expressed his interest to work under former Brazilian coach Scoari at Chelsea.
Meanwhile, though Scolari had publicly claimed that Drogba was 200% in his plans for the next year, the Ivory Coast striker is reluctant to stay at Stamford Bridge and has already packed his bags. AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid are linked with the £25m rated striker. Chelsea will be looking to find a replacement to this prolific striker if he chooses to leave and Robinho might be a good one.

Transfer updates: Eto for Malouda

There is a strong speculation about an exchange deal between Chelsea and Barcelona, linking Malouda and Samuel Eto. Scolari is prepared to offload Didier Drogba to AC Milan / Inter Milan, thereby replacing him with Samuel Eto. Chelsea might end up having multiple deals with Barca this summer (after all their rivalry in the past few seasons), with Deco already having signed, Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto strongly linked. Chelsea are also hopeful of signing Russian star Arshavin. Scolari is prepared to keep Lampard at Chelsea by offering him £140,000 a week.

Portsmouth are prepared to launch a £10m bid for Liverpool frontman Peter Crouch (should they spend so much?). Pompey are also focussed on signing Shaun Wright Philips from Chelsea. With the number of midfielders swelling at Stamford Bridge, Scolari might take the offer with both hands.

Sunderland might not sign Darren Bent, as their evaluation for the player is way off the tag put by Tottenham.

Deco at Chelsea - Video and Interview

Portugese playmaker Deco recently joined the premier league titans Chelsea last week. The arrival of Deco followed Scolari’s taking over as coach. Deco had worked with Scolari for the Portugese team, where he had a good rapport with the Brazilian coach. Deco was thrilled about playing for Chelsea and promised Chelsea fans that he would aid in the club lifting the first ever champions league trophy.

Deco was instrumental in earlier Barca-Chelsea encounters. Barca and Chelsea faced each other in 3 consecutive champions league games and Deco was a major force for Barca playing against his fomer Porto coach Mourinho.

It will be great to watch Deco team up with the likes of Ballack, Essien and Lampard. Definitely, he will add more flair and pace to the Chelsea midfield.
