Welcome back! Check out our new videos and news updates!
Whose job is tougher …. Mourinho’s or Scolari’s ?
Well, there is always much talking going around about the influential coach Jose Mourinho, who did a terrific job with FC Porto, Chelsea before joining the star studded Inter Milan.
Inter Milan have won the 2008 league comfortably, but failed to reach the knock-out stages of prestigious Champions league. Mourinho was brought to Chelsea by Roman Abrahamovic with the sole aim of securing the champions league title, but Mourinho failed to do so in his 3 yr tenure. So…what now ? Mourinho at Inter Milan… winning the league will no way be enough, champions league title or atleast a place in the last four is what is expected of the “Special One”. True… I consider him as a Special One .. he is amazing with his agression.. I would love to watch him on the touchline !!
Scolari.. out of Euro ‘08, not a satisfactory performance from Portugal side. They started as tournament favorites, but have failed to reach the last 4. Scolari gets to join Chelsea sooner… good for him. What’s the job for Scolari ?
Well, the list is short but long as well…. to keep it short..restore league title and win Champions league. The longer version would be to do justice for the multi-million pounds spent on players like Anelka, Sheva, Malouda, Wright-Phillips, Ballack…to have a GOOD RELATIONSHIP with the owner (tough one)… to retain Lampard and Drogba or find good replacements … (ofcourse.. Carvalho is staying for sure!) ..manage the media.. face the likes of Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez……learn English..no kidding.. the list is long!!!
Well, both Mourinho and Scolari could win league titles…but only one can win champions league.. I am a crazy supporter of Chelsea as well as Mourinho…so who am I going to back for the UEFA Champions League title……. hmm.. I can’t say.. the real tough job is Mine !!

Video highlights of the 2008 UEFA Champions League final between English clubs, Manchester United and Chelsea, played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Manchester United, for all their triumphs in England, have won the European honours just twice before. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, who had already pipped Chelsea to the Premier League, won on the 50th year of the Munich disaster. Cristiano Ronaldo headed home to put United up 1-0, but Frank Lampard responded for the London club to make it 1-1 before half-time.
In the penalty shootout, Ronaldo missed, and when John Terry stepped up to the spot, Chelsea were on the brink of victory. Terry slipped as he took his penalty, thus throwing the Red Devils a lifeline that they gleefully accepted. Nicolas Anelka’s effort was saved by Edwin van der Sar to give United a 6-5 victory. United completed their domestic and European double. Didier Drogba was sent off towards the end of extra time for unsporting conduct.

Video highlights of the 2007 UEFA Champions League final match between AC Milan of Italy and Liverpool Football Club of England, played at the Spyro Louis Stadium in Athens.
Billed as the rematch (or the revenge match) of the 2005 final which Liverpool had won in heart-stopping fashion, this final did not play out the same way. Milan were more organized this time around, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men were determined not to be outplayed by Rafael Benitez. Filippo Inzaghi scored at the stroke of half time, and then doubled Milan’s lead with less than 10 minutes to go. Dirk Kuyt pulled one back for the Merseysiders in the 89th minute, but it was too late to spur a comeback a la 2005. The Rossoneri, captained by Paolo Maldini, won 2-1.

Video highlights of the 2006 UEFA Champions League final match between FC Barcelona of Spain and Arsenal Football Club of England, at the Stade de France in Paris.
Barcelona and Arsenal were possibly the most stylish two sides in Europe back then, both playing free flowing open football that was pleasing to the eye. Frank Rijkaard’s men were favorites against Arsene Wenger’s young team. The Gunners got off to a bad start with goalkeeper Jens Lehmann being sent off for a foul on Samuel Eto’o. Reduced to ten men, Arsenal fought back bravely and took the lead off a Sol Campbell header.
Just as Arsenal were heading to a victory against all odds, Rijkaard threw in veteran striker Henrik Larsson. The Swede played a pivotal role, setting up Samuel Eto’o in the 76th minute, and Juliano Belletti four minutes later. The blaugrana triumphed 2-1. Ronaldinho, who was influential in the Catalan side’s run, was largely subdued in the final. Victor Valdes was forced into producing a string of saves by Thierry Henry.

Video highlights of the 2005 UEFA Champions League final match between AC Milan of Italy and Liverpool Football Club of England, at the Kemal Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul.
If you thought Manchester United 1999 triumph was stunning, you should reserve your comment until you have seen this game. Liverpool were never in the running, while Milan had everything going for them. And when their captain Paolo Maldini opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, the Milan machine was already at work. Hernan Crespo scored two more and Liverpool were down and (almost) out at half-time.
But then Steven Gerrard mounted a comeback, and in the space of just a few minutes, Liverpool had made it 3-3, thanks to goals from Gerrard, Vladimir Smicer (who had come on as a substitute for the injured Harry Kewell), and Xabi Alonso (who missed a penalty, but converted on the rebound).
In the penalty shootout, Jerzy Dudek’s antics seemed to play on the minds of the Milan penalty takers, who had won just two years ago in 2003 against Juventus on penalties. Liverpool won the shootout 3-2.
